HOW DOES SECURE SOCKETS LAYER (SSL) ENCRYPTION WORK
In simple terms, SSL encryption creates a temporary "key" that is shared by the computer on either end of the secure transaction. The transaction will appear as complete gibberish to anyone intercepting it and can only be deciphered by the two "key" holders. The key will only last for as long as you are in the same "session". So, if you leave the secure website, the keys become useless and new keys are used each time you return.
