INTRODUCTION TO CRAPS
There is some documented evidence that casino craps may have originated in some form
during Roman times where bones of pigs were shaped and thrown into upturned shields to
entertain the centurions. Whatever its true origins, it was in the US steamboat
casinos of the 1800’s that the game of craps became the fast and loud casino game
that we know and love today.
Playing craps online is a great way to learn craps as it gives you the opportunity
to practise your game without it costing you money. You can play craps for free at all
of our casino partners before you take a seat at a real money craps table. Craps is not
an easy casino game to play so please print off our craps rules and craps betting guide

OBJECTIVE/PREMISE OF CRAPS
Craps is a game of chance played on a sunken table with a pair of dice that are thrown
by the Shooter. The objective is to bet on whether the Shooter will throw a winning
combination. A game of craps consists of two distinct phases, the Coming Out phase and
the Point phase.
Coming Out Phase
When the dice are given to a new Shooter, his or her first roll is called the Come Out
roll. In this phase, the objective is to roll a 7 or an 11 whilst betting on the Pass
Line. If the Shooter rolls a 2, 3 or 12, this is called Rolling Craps or Craps Out, all
Pass Line bets lose automatically and the Shooter must roll again until a Point is
established.
Point Phase
To establish a Point, the Shooter rolls a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 in the Come Out phase.
The Puck is then placed over this number to identify the Point. The Shooter must continue
to roll until he or she makes the Point (a win) or until they roll a 7 (he Sevens Out)
and the roll is passed to the player on the Shooter’s left. If Point is made by the
Shooter, the roll stays with them and they start the Come Out phase again.
That’s about it as far as the mechanics of the craps game go but it is in the craps
betting where this exciting game becomes more complicated. Please use our Craps Betting
Guide to help you learn what betting options are available to you and when you can
make them.
