Pass Line Bets
If a natural (a 7 or 11) is rolled on the first throw (Coming Out), a Pass Line bet
wins automatically. If a Point is established (see
Craps Rules), you win if the Point is
thrown before a 7 and lose if a 7 is rolled before the Point is made. If Craps is rolled
(2, 3, or 12), you lose your Pass Line bet.
Don’t Pass Line Bets
This is exactly the reverse of the Pass Line bet. You lose if a natural is thrown and win
if craps is thrown, although a 12 in this case is a standoff and nobody wins. Once a Point
has been established, Don’t Pass Line bets win if a 7 comes up before the Point and lose if
Point is made before a 7.
Come Bets
These work on the same principles as Pass Line bets except that they can only be made
after the Come Out roll. So you win with a natural 7 or 11 and you lose with craps (2, 3,
or 12) as you do with Pass Line bets. Any other number becomes the point, known as Come Point,
and you win if your Come Point rolls before a 7.
Don’t Come Bets
Like the Don’t Pass Line bet, this is the opposite to Come Bets. You lose with 7 or 11, win
with 2 or 3 (12 is again a standoff) and any other number establishes the Don’t Come Point. From
here, you will win if 7 is rolled before the Don’t Come Point and lose if the Don’t Come Point
is made before a 7 is rolled.
Place Bets
This is a bet you can make at any time on 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10. You are betting on the ‘placed’
number being made before a 7 is rolled. The points pay out as follows: 4 or 10 pays 9:5, 5 or 9
pays 7:5, 6 or 8 pays 7:6.
Buy Bets
These are made on the 4 and 10 and win if rolled before a 7.
Lay Bets
Lay Bets are made on 4, 5, 9, or 10 and win when a 7 is rolled before the number bet on.
Proposition Bets
These are all one roll bets made at any time that are decided on each roll of the dice. They are
normally located in the centre of the craps table and are made up of the following:
Hard-Way Bets
Craps and Eleven
Horn Bets
Field Bets
Any 7
Where you bet that a hard 4, 6, 8 or 10 will roll before a 7. By ‘hard’ we mean a double, so a
double 2, 3, 4, or 5. Also you are betting that the hard 4 rolls before any other form of 4 such as
1 & 3.
You win if the next roll is a 2, 3, 11 or 12.
Like C&E above, you win on 2, 3, 11 and 12 but in this instance you must bet four times the
table minimum (usually £4) – one for each of the possible wins.
- 3, 4, 9, 10 or 11 - pays out 1:1
- 2 or 12 - pays out 2:1
- other numbers - you lose
You must wager at least the equivalent to a minimum Pass Line Bet.
You are betting on the next roll being a 7. This pays 4:1.
